A blue ship connects the ocean and islands of the Shimanami Kaido Expressway for cyclists.
Lazuli, co-developed by Setouchi Charter backed by JR West Innovations Co., Ltd. and Setouchi DMO (tourism organization), began its service in October 2018, coinciding with the launch of Cycling Shimanami. The project's aim is to connect the various islands of the Seto Inland Sea including Shimanami Kaido Expressway, and to enhance each visitor's experience of the entire Setouchi area.
The ship enhances the cycling and cruise experience by allowing travelers to board with their bicycles.
• Cruiser Name: CYCLESHIP Lazuli
The name Lazuli is derived from the Persian term for "blue," and has been worshipped as a holy color that is said to heighten intuition and creativity. The ship was named with hopes to connect the Shimanami Kaido Expressway's ocean and islands with its cycling road ("blue line"), known as a sacred spot for cyclists.

• On-board facilities
In addition to passenger capacity of 75 (seating for 45 passengers) and 50 bicycle stands, amenities include rental equipment for bicycle repairs and maintenance, free Wi-Fi, and mobile AC adapters, providing comfort and convenience during transportation. The ship caters to cyclists' every needs, including easy accessibility throughout the ship.
Bicycle stands are available on the deck, equipped with protective sheets to prevent damage to bicycles.
Staircases are designed with a moderate slope, making it easy to transport bicycles. The slope is equipped with a track for bicycle tires.
The cabin features 45 passenger seats, Wi-Fi, and mobile AC adapters. The cabin windows are treated to block 99.9% UV rays.
With rental equipment for bicycle repairs and maintenance, CYCLESHIP Lazuli is the first ship certified as a Cycle Oasis.
*Cycle Oasis are rest areas located around the Shimanami area for cyclists. Cycle Oasis are equipped with sport-bicycle stands, bathrooms, and bicycle pumps.

The ship services the Onomichi - Setoda route, and operates on weekends and public holidays only.
The route may be serviced by alternate cruisers in the event of inclement weather or private cruise bookings.
