The “Three Saku”
Key to cherished memories of Northern Okayama
The SAKUBI-SAKURA name was selected from over 500 ideas submitted from throughout Japan. In Japanese, the word “saku” can mean “create” (as in beauty or pleasure), “bloom” (smiles and flowers) or “quest” (to relish the beauty and pleasures of the region). The name also provides a delightful match with the light pink hue of the train itself.

The car exterior design reflects the healing powers of hot springs and hospitality. Our light pink color scheme suggests the many famous cherry blossom viewing spots in the north of Okayama, further complemented with petals of other seasonable flowers caressed away by the winds. Air-bound petals embrace the hearts of travelers, adding an intriguing touch to the towns, people and sightseeing attractions along the route.
