Yuhigaura
Meaning “evening sun shore” in Japanese, this beach truly lets you gaze at the beautiful evening sun. The setting evening sun soothes visitors. Yuhigahara Onsen, a hot spring known to have beautifying effects, is also located nearby.

Amanohashidate
A beautiful landscape created by nature, with an expansive line of around 6,700 pine trees. The name means “bridge to the heavens in Japanese” – turn your back and look at it through your legs and it looks like a bridge to the heavens.

Chirimen Kaido
The birthplace of Tango Chirimen, a high-quality silk fabric. The townscape of its time is preserved, with many precious buildings remaining. This area is also called a roofless museum of architecture.

Maizuru Red
Brick Park
A complex using the red brick warehouse, a National Important Cultural Property. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of things here, including a museum where you can learn about the history of bricks, and restaurants where you can enjoy fresh seafood.

Castle
This castle began when it was built as a base for Akechi Mitsuhide, who conquered Tamba Province. The stone fences remaining from the time the castle was built, and the sole castle tower in northern Kinki, are both very appealing.

Rose Garden
A rose garden opened by citizen volunteers. Around 1,200 colorful, stunning roses bloom during the rose festivals held in spring and autumn every year.

Thatched Village
(Kayabuki no Sato)
A village that has houses with Kayabuki roofs (thatched roofs), built with traditional techniques, still standing. You can gaze at unspoiled Japanese landscapes surrounded by beautiful nature, where time flows slowly.

Hozu-gawa
River Boat Ride
Go down a mountain stream that stretches around 16 km, from Tamba Kameoka to Arashiyama in Kyoto. Get on a boat handled by a skilled boatman and enjoy a 2-hour boat trip that lets you experience the splendid seasons and magnificent nature.

A bamboo forest in the hills of Nishiooka, known throughout Japan as a production area for quality bamboo. This bamboo path is 1,800m long and features 8 kinds of bamboo fences orderly lined up, including ancient mound fences, furniture and fences.

of Art
This museum consists of a main building built during Japanʼs Taisho and Showa Eras in the 20th century, and a new building designed by the architect Tadao Ando. Monetʼs painting “Water Lillies,” as well as artworks related to the mingei folk art movement, are displayed here.

Temple
